Brisbane’s most bangin’ madam of underground soul, MKO will launch her new single, ‘Puddles’, exactly one year after winning a Queensland Music Award for Best Electro Dance track with cult hit ‘Snarly’.
With a sound described as ‘electric, eclectic, eccentric soul and beats’, MKO has gained supreme respect both in Australia and worldwide for her fusion of future sounds, otherworldly melodies and those unmistakable virtuosic vocals. Ahead of the single launch, MKO shares her five favourite large scale street art projects.
1. From a suitable vantage point up above in a helicopter, drop a tonne of glue onto a building and then glitter bomb it. Maybe Parliament House. It needs a little sparkle.
2. Design and create a public toilet that every time you flush it, a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle hologram emerges to wish you a good day.
3. Choose an expansively concreted area of the city eg. a walking mall. From the top of a tall building, project video footage of swarms of bugs onto the ground. And watch the people freak!
4. Hit the Valley in the morning after a peak night and collect every last bit of McDonalds rubbish left behind: packages, wrappers, bags, boxes. Hold a fire festival in the Valley Mall entirely powered by McDonalds waste.
5. Wearing a pair of self-adhesive googly eyes, congratulate a suit-wearing businessman with a friendly slap on the back. Repeat ad infinitum.
MKO launches ‘Puddles’ at Black Bear Lodge Tuesday August 12. Wednesday is a public holiday kids.
