Storytellers – A Workshop For Aspiring Creatives In The Arts At Fringe World

‘Storytellers’ is the must-do Fringe World Perth workshop for aspiring creatives.

“’Storytellers’ is a workshop-styled event designed to help people write their own Fringe show or improve their storytelling skills,” Workshop Creator Dr Paul Armishaw says.

“The workshop is set amongst an active Fringe show, REmida WA's ‘The Spider And The Crow’, and goes through how a story can be crafted between an environment, costumes, set pieces and your audience.”

If you have a tale that needs to be told, Dr Armishaw says ‘Storytellers’ is your founding step to developing it into a Fringe-worthy show.

“The workshop is ideal for anyone who has a great idea for a Fringe show or other storytelling medium and needs some help getting started,” he says.

Audiences will learn the craft of storytelling within the REmida material repurposing facility, which doubles as the mysterious Warehousiam for Fringe.

“'Storytellers' takes you inside the Warehousiam and gives you the chance to explore the storytelling process from the inside out,” Dr Armishaw says.

“The session demystifies the storytelling process and gives you the tools to transform your inner creativity into something that can be shared with others.”

‘Storytellers’ is a safe space where participants can indulge their inner creative and bring their own story to theatrical life.

“The session is non-confrontational,” he affirms.

“You can quietly enjoy the session, or you can jump in and share your ideas. There's no pressure to participate and you can always send through questions after the event if something comes to mind on the drive home.”

All potential storytellers of any age are encouraged to attend and benefit from the expertise of Dr Armishaw and his dedicated crew of creatives.

‘Storytellers’ isn’t just another whiteboard workshop; it’s an immersive learning experience that takes you right to the heart of the creative process and will hopefully bring your story to a future fringe festival.

“You're not just going behind the scenes, you are going to the very core of how a show comes to life,” Dr Armishaw says.

“Audiences often come away from a show inspired without knowing how to transform that inspiration into something they can share with others, and ‘Storytellers’ bridges that gap.”

‘Storytellers’ takes place at REmida Perth (Fringe World) 22, 26, 29 January.
