'Hot Modernism' is an immersive exhibition at the State Library of Queensland showcases the stories of Queensland’s mid-century architecture.
This time period in our history, inspired by a new way of thinking about sub-tropical living, brought a wave of fresh ideas, design and debate to the Queensland landscape. Go along and see images like the rolling expanse of the Riverside Expressway and soaring concrete structures like the Torbreck apartment building. Plus check out houses explicitly tailored to our unique climate and lifestyle and includes a full-scale re-creation of the 1957 Jacobi House, interactive future cityscapes, 3D models, and historical drawings. This was a period of development that paved the way for modern Queensland.
'Hot Modernism' can be viewed at SLQ Gallery, Level 2, State Library until October 12.
