Spiegelworld's most successful international production yet, Empire, commences previews in Sydney from January 4 before its grand opening on January 9, 2013.
Smashing through the borders of comedy, circus, variety and burlesque, Empire is a 90-minute theatrobatic adventure performed by the greatest international talent ever assembled in one tent.
The 700-seat antique spiegeltent, furnished with beveled mirrors, plush velvet-upholstered booths and an always-open bar, will pop up in Sydney at the Showring, Entertainment Quarter in Moore Park. Empire will then perform to Melbourne audiences from 14 March at Crown Melbourne, followed by Brisbane from 24 May 2013.

The MCs, Oscar and Fanny, steer the show through the performers helping Oscar rebuild his empire: the seductive Gorilla Girls from Ukraine form perfectly balanced pyramids on top of each other; the Ethiopian foot juggler Black Flintstone throws and impossibly catches his brother, Big Mac Boy, with his feet; and the Polka Dot Woman and Elvis from Russia are the high speed, high risk roller-skaters who spin each other around the tiny stage at breakneck speed.
Spiegelworld impresario Ross Mollison said: "Australia has given us the best response to any of our show launches in the world, so I'm delighted to bring the best of the spiegeltent artform to audiences who appreciate it the most. We scoured the planet to find the most awe-inspiring acts and mixed them into a show that represents everything that is sexy, excessive, decadent and bizarre about New York City."
