Sparrow-Folk, the “sirens of satire”, are heading back to Fringe again this year to shock crowds with their most daring show yet, comedically entitled 'Nest Friends'.
Sparrow-Folk broke out on the scene in 2013 when they won the ABC TV's 'Exhumed Competition'. Described as 'Kath & Kim' on citric acid, best friends Fox and Lark first gained worldwide attention with their satirical videos 'Ruin Your Day' (about breastfeeding) and 'Love The Vagina' (on the topic of body image).
With Tim Minchin saying that 'Nest Friends', “Made 'Real Housewives' look like 'The Babysitter's Club',” it is clear that these two are the queens of over sharing. Their musical comedy show will feature their killer harmonies and suave story telling tones, exploring comedy that others wouldn't dare to touch.
Sparrow-Folk have featured on Channel 9's Today Show, ABC TV, BBC radio, and frequently feature on ABC radio. Their debut live show was at Adelaide Fringe Festival in 2014, the show titled 'Nested Confessions'. Sparrow-Folk have since performed to sold-out crowds at Melbourne International Comedy Festival, Sydney Comedy Festival, and Perth Fringe. In 2015, they debuted at Edinburgh Fringe Festival performing their follow-up hit musical comedy show, 'SuBIRDia'.
Sparrow-Folk have also released two comedic music albums, 'The Fox and The Lark' and 'SuBIRDia'. In 2016, Sparrow-Folk played again to sell-out crowds across Australia with their new show, 'SuBIRDia Renovated'. In 2017, they returned to the recording studio to work on their third album.
Sparrow-Folk are the love-child of the Doug Anthony Allstars (DAAS) and Madonna. Tim Ferguson of DAAS was quoted calling Sparrow-Folk's latest show “Brilliant!... Left me hungry, horny and horrified!”
