The 'Floating Melodies' concept has been very successful, hosting events based on a range of themes. What has your favourite event since you began?
This is a very tricky one! I think it is a tie between the performances with Keith Conlon and the Japanese Tea Ceremony versions.

What is your favourite Irish song and why?
Michael Balfe's ‘Marble Halls’ covered by Enya. It has a beautiful Irish melody and inflections and her voice is sublime. I also really love the story it tells about love.

Music is just a part of the event, with there being a big emphasis on food and drink. What else can audiences expect?
When doing a themed event such as the St Patrick's Day special, I have been lucky to find people within the community that can create traditional Irish food with local ingredients. This is one of my favourite things about South Australia. We have so many cultures we can learn from and explore - without even leaving the country! The event takes place on the iconic Popeye river cruise and we head under the new footbridge, down to the weir and then all the way down to the zoo and back. There is wonderful birdlife and the gardens to observe as we float by. All the beverages on board are locally sourced too! It is quite a unique South Australian experience.

What other events do you have planned?
'Floating Melodies' runs throughout the year on the first Sunday of the month at 5pm. I also run special events throughout the year on Mother's Day, Bastille Day and more!

Music has given you an opportunity to travel the world; what has your highlight been so far?
It’s difficult to choose. I like experiencing all the different cultures. I’m torn between Europe, Siberia and Japan!

You are known for singing both Celtic and operatic repertoire; do you have a favourite and if so, why?
I don’t have a favourite. I love singing both styles. I enjoy being versatile with my voice. I like to think of my voice as an instrument that has the potential to sing in many different styles.

What is your favourite thing about Irish music?
A lot of Irish music has really beautiful, heart-wrenching melodies and lyrics full of emotion. It’s easy to lose yourself in the stories when you‘re singing them. My mum’s family are Irish, so I feel really attached to the music.

What is on your agenda for 2016?
I am releasing a new album this month and touring around Australia for a few months before heading to Europe in June. I will be performing in Italy, France and Siberia as well 14 arena shows in Germany in December as part of a new show called ‘Excalibur’.

'Floating Melodies: St Patrick's Day' performs Popeye & Paddle Boats on the Torrens River 17 March.
