Are you ready for a night of the most graphic and gruesome short movies in the land?
Spawned by the most demented filmmaking minds in Australia, the event includes backyard dodgies, slick-as-fuck disasterpieces, filthy filmclips. And this will be a hilarious video nasty nightmare of fun. The brainchild of Dick Dale, 'Trasharama' promises to leave you sweaty and shaking (and all with bodily fluids covered in the content).
Describe ‘Trasharama’ in five words.
Sick and twisted hilarious films!
How did this event come about?
I started it in 1997 as a way to film my own short disasterpieces and also screen other films like them including bad-taste comedies, horror, schlock, movies that don't even have a classification, faux trailers, dodgymenteries, all types of weird freaky films.
What's the highlight this year?
There are many highlights but I prefer to call them LOWLIGHTS really. It's NOT a good year for babies. That's bad for them. All the movies are great in their own way. The program IS the pick of the crop. It's 50 shades of filth I guess. I'm looking forward to the lucky or unlucky audience giveaway at half time courtesy of Club X!! I didn't even imagine they made these things.
Your fav film of all time is and why?
Well, that'll change from week to week with me. I love early Peter Jackson's movies like 'Bad Taste', 'Meet the Feebles' and 'Braindead'. They really influenced me to make my own sordid productions. Some people might not be aware but before he was running around with Hobbits he used to make bad taste comedy zombie ficks! Feebles gets the Muppets hooked on drugs, sodimises them then blows them apart with a machine gun. Oh and there's Muppet porn too. What's not to like?
What makes a great film?
One that tells the story with no bullshit that isn't needed. Entertainment, Oh and gratuitous bodily fluids.
Best advice about life you've learnt through film?
Dispose of the bodies well and TELL NO ONE!
Anything else our readers should know?
They should know to get down to the show if they want over two hours of great entertainment, wild and weird stuff they'll be hard pressed to see elsewhere. Oh, I'll have some T-shirts and wicked stubby holders to knock off! I'll be hosting it in my usual unprofessional and messy style of showmanship. Oh, and remember — STAY SICK FREAKERS!!!
'Trasharama' is on for one night only, Friday June 27 at The Latin Club.
