What better way of spending a hot Sunday afternoon than with a tub of Ben & Jerry’s, sprawled out on a picnic rug in front of some of the best live music in the country and a great big outdoor cinema?
Ben & Jerry’s has come a long way from its humble origins in Burlington, Vermont. So far, in fact, that they’ve well and truly made their mark right here in Brisbane, and continue to do so having teamed up with OzHarvest to present a month’s worth of Sundae Sessions at their annual Brisbane Ben & Jerry’s Openair Cinemas at South Bank to raise funds and awareness for charity.
Enjoy some gourmet-style food, refreshing beverages from the licensed bar, or a tub of Ben & Jerry’s Chocolate Fudge Brownie or Mint Chocolate Chunk ice cream as you enjoy music by day and some of the best newly released movies by night, including The Sapphires, Ruby Sparks and Moonrise Kingdom (as well as a few classics, like The Goonies, Gremlins and Stand By Me — the latter of which starred a young Jerry O'Connell, back in the days when he ate a lot of Ben & Jerry's).
Local bands can also get in on the party by entering the very first Ben & Jerry’s Battle Of The Bands, which gives them the chance to secure a spot alongside New Zealand new wave duo Kids of 88 and fellow New Zealanders Avalanche City at the opening Sundae Session.
The Sundae Sessions festivities kick off on October 21 and run until November 25. All ticket proceeds help OzHarvest and their work salvaging excess food and delivering it to people in need.
