Ripple Effect: Organic Growth

Alex Freitas
Our eclectic team of writers from around Australia – and a couple beyond – with decades of combined experience and interest in all fields.

'Ripple Effect' brings together three White Canvas award-winning artists from South Bank Institute Of Technology's fine arts programme.

Harry Sillet, Alex Freitas and Temily Eddington chart the growth of thought, form, texture and pattern through time and space using a variety of mediums and approaches – from Harry's digital conceptions, Alex's mixed media and Temily's raw materials.

Harry manipulates his own domestic and environment photographer to build sprawling textured structures modeled on sacred architecture.

A moment in times sparks Alex's process as he seeks to capture these thoughts and incidents in abstracted pattern work using mixed media and timber blocks.

Temily's work draws on her upbringing in the Pacific Islands and various countries and cultures. Reflective of beauty, strength and the fragility of nature, her stylised representations are made from earth pigments on tapa with lino prints.
