Review: West Australian Symphony Orchestra: Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows Part 2 In Concert @ The Riverside Theatre

'Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows Part 2 In Concert'
Joshua (he/him) is from Boorloo, Western Australia. Outside writing for scenestr and FROOTY, he is an active member of the arts and cultural industries, specialising in Film and Theatre management.

As the lights dimmed, the audience was transported back to the mysterious grounds of Hogwarts, and the breathtaking visuals of ‘Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows Part 2’.

In true Hufflepuff fashion, Nicholas Buc made the audience feel at home, conducting not only the West Australian Symphony Orchestra (WASO) but a roar from every house present – with special mention to those who had been to each performance across the season’s seven-year run.

Held in the Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre, the sweeping ceilings and attendees in their house robes brought a sense of nostalgia and community to the performance.

HP 7 WASO 1

It’s always a delight to experience the West Australian Symphony Orchestra in concert – not just with the immense talent of all musicians, but to catch glimpses of them watching the movie alongside the audience, in between the resonance of the score. The organisation’s investment within this season – regardless of the movie in concert – is a beautiful integration of arts, culture, and community.

If you have yet to experience a performance from WASO In Concert, make sure you grab their 2024 season and lock one in – your bucket list will thank you. Fifty points to all houses, and the House Cup to WASO!
