Strut & Fret’s ‘Blanc De Blanc Encore’ has fizzed to life at new Melbourne venue Spiegel Haus, with a dazzling opening night (6 November) bursting with talent and entertainment.

A cast of performers took over in the extravagant pop-up tent, leaving no aisle untouched as they sprinkled charisma, charm and cheek across the audience.

Each act brought something new to the atmosphere – whether it was the aerial hoop skills of the UK’s Danielle Summers, the hypnotising allure of songstress Clara Fable, who had everyone in the palm of her hand as she rhapsodised, or the genuinely skin-crawling abilities of contortionist Mykhailo Makarovoak from the Ukraine.

Emcees Emile Mathieu and Felix Pouliot brought it all together, with hilariously-crafted mini-skits throughout including – without spoiling too much – a very ‘ballsy’ display, and some impressive grape-to-mouth shenanigans.

If you prefer your burlesque/cabaret experiences to be enjoyed without involvement, ‘Blanc De Blanc Encore’ may not be the show for you. Floating bubbles, pillow fights and hot spotlights feature among the audience throughout the evening, and even if you’re up the back, there’s no guarantee you’ll be safe from the roguish enchantment of these charismatic characters.

‘Encore’ was true talent tinged with naughtiness. . . The perfect night out for those seeking eye-popping feats of the human body, with a bit of sauciness on the side. Best enjoyed with a cold, fizzy glass of champagne. . . Naturally.
