Wonderland is returning to Brisbane's Powerhouse for another provocative end-of-year festival. Step inside a world of the unexpected, of euphoric body bending and late night temptations.
The festival will begin late November and will run for about three weeks, delivering nightly entertainment in the form of circus, burlesque, cabaret and comedy in a collection of high energy performances.
Brisbane's Powerhouse Artistic Director, Kris Stewart wishes for the crowds to engage this year in a celebration of an end of year carnival, somewhere people can come and have fun and escape reality.
“This festival is like no other in Brisbane, as it showcases the cheekier side of the performing arts,” Kris says. “Audiences are spoilt for choice this year. Definitely not to be missed will be the hilarious Sammy J and Randy, the always knowledgeable Dr Karl, The Chaser's Australia, ''The Voice' Grand Finalist Ellen Reed, local superstar Luke Kennedy with world champion beat boxer Joel Turner, and songstress Emma Dean.”
Emma Dean

There will also be free exhibitions on display. 'The Fanciful Fiction Auxiliary', featuring the exposure of purple veins against fine satin and flimsy plots, will show the cover shots from a group of talented writers. It will be shown in the White Wall and Mosquito foyer. The other is 'Burger Force' by Aurealis award-winning independent comic Sachie Ryan, who features real people and locations that have been 'comified' by a combination of software and hand retouching, shown in the Visy Theatre Foyer.
