Queensland Theatre Door 3 2025 Programme

Door 3
Our eclectic team of writers from around Australia – and some beyond.

Door 3 is a new programme providing opportunities and financial support for local artists and theatremakers. After its successful 2024 launch, it returns with a set of bold new works.

The 2024 event helped out 38 Queensland artists, achieved two Matilda Awards, and presented work to more than 2,000 attendees. In 2025, MO Theatre presents ‘PRAMKICKER’, All Forms Considered and Assembly Of Elephants presents ‘So Many Splintered Parts’, and Bodysnatchers presents ‘SUPERHEROES’.

“Independent theatre is alive and kicking in this city. Our state’s indie theatre makers are the best in the country – rock-n-roll, resourceful, keen to push the limits of what theatre is (and could be), ready to tell stories that are bold, blistering and beyond belief,” Queensland Theatre Artistic Director Dan Evans says.

“Giving these stellar artists the space and support to bring their burning story to the stage in their voice, on their terms, is Queensland Theatre’s way of acknowledging how important and vital our indie arts scene is to our broader arts ecology. If you want to see the future of theatre in the state – take a look behind the Door numbered 3.”

Sadie Hasler’s ‘PRAMKICKER’ dissects the rage and relationships of two sisters. ‘So Many Splintered Parts’ presents seven Brisbane writers with two actors and eight minutes each, to share disparate and deeply personal vignettes on the world. ‘SUPERHEROES’ tells of two women on opposite sides of the world, rising to overcome their challenges and master their destinies.

Last year’s ‘Scenes From A Yellow Peril’ from The Reaction Theory won the Best Independent Production and Best Ensemble trophies at The Matilda Awards.

“Being part of the Door 3 programme has given us the platform to be bold and courageous while also being supported as emerging artists coming into the fold,” ‘Scenes From A Yellow Peril’ Co-Directors Chelsea August and Egan Sun-Bin say.

All three shows play Queensland Theatre’s Diane Cilento studio. ‘PRAMKICKER’ is on 16 May-7 June. ‘So Many Splintered Parts’ plays 8-23 August. ‘SUPERHEROES’ plays 7-22 November.
