Game on, Perth.
Presented by Perth Gay Social Club, 'Perth Big Games Night' at Fringe World Festival brings performers together to battle it out on stage. . . There's Pictionary, charades and trivia. But it doesn't stop with those on stage – as an audience, you need to play along and guess the clues they've been given, in order for them to reign supreme.
There are four chances to reach the top – four heats across four weeks will weed out the weak and suss out the strong. . . Ultimately resulting in a massive Grand Finale in the final week.
“‘Perth Big Games Night’ is a variety show like no other,” Perth Gay Social Club Events Manager Ian Odlum says. “Each week we've invited different Fringe World performers from other shows to act out and draw clues for the audience to play along and guess.”
'Perth Big Games Night' is also an opportunity to check out what else is on offer throughout the festival.
“This is a family-style show, great to sit back and have a laugh, guess along and have a chance at winning some tickets to some other Fringe World shows too,” Ian says. “I'm hoping audiences will say they had a great time playing along, shouting out answers and that it was hilarious watching some attempts at drawing or acting out clues.”
Like many recent creative endeavours and experiments, 'Perth Big Games Night' came about during the pandemic.
“Interesting fact,” Ian describes, “this show was formed online during Perth's initial lockdown as a way to keep people connected and entertained. Streaming live on YouTube with guest contestants, people could watch on and guess by commenting.”
Watch it come to life on stage at this year's Fringe World.
'Perth Big Games Night' plays Beer Garden at The Court 19,27 January and 2,9 February, with the Grand Finale on 10 February.
