It's a fact (that I may or may not have just made up) that most of us become more creative after a few drinks. So why not harness that creativity to paint your own masterpiece with a story?
Held at various pubs around Melbourne and now Brisbane, 'Paint The Nite' is a socialising event with a twist. Both an art class and a fun night out, you're encouraged to have a drink while you put brush to canvas – just don't mix up your paint water with your beer (with the same hue it's an easy, and hilarious, mistake).
During the two-hour classes, a host artist will offer step-by-step instructions on how to create a 16x20" reproduction of the night's chosen artwork – often a well-known painting like Van Gogh's 'Starry Night'. All materials are provided including paint brushes, canvas, paints, easel and apron. Best of all you don't need any experience. In fact, the less experience you have, the more fun. Starting later in the evening, you'll have time to grab a pub feed before the class. Bring friends (or meet new ones) and let the right side of your brain loose. Best of all, you get to take your creation home with you.
