Oxtravaganza: Young Henrys Head Of Marketing Q&A

Young Henrys
Our eclectic team of writers from around Australia – and a couple beyond – with decades of combined experience and interest in all fields.

Young Henrys will be focused on raising money for Twenty10+GLCS during Oxtravaganza in Sydney.

Head Of Marketing Andy Miller fills us in on their exclusive YES! Kegs and more.

Darlinghurst Business Partnership has partnered with you to arrange your own version of the Karma Keg called the YES! Keg. Where did this idea come from?
Like most good ideas, this one came about over a beer with mates. Stephen dropped into the brewery and we got talking about how we could unite pubs, bars and retailers in the Darlinghurst community.

Further to that, what do you hope you will achieve with the YES! Keg?
If we can raise funds and awareness for Twenty10+GLCS, the project will be a success in our eyes. We hope creating a way for people to rally around the local businesses and organisations in their community, creates goodwill and helps the positive vibes of Mardi Gras carry on beyond the parade. Ultimately, we hope this will result in new life being injected into the neighbourhood, with more people choosing to hang out in the Oxford St and Darlinghurst area.

What does it mean for you guys to be part of Oxtravaganza?
Being a part of Oxtravaganza is a no brainer for us. It's a small, authentic way for us to continue to support the local hospitality industry, but offering something to the local Darlinghurst community. We're humbled to be part of such a tight-knit community, in an iconic part of Sydney.

All proceeds for the YES! Keg go to Twenty10+GLCS. Tell us about them.
It's important for us that the proceeds of this activity are invested back into the local community, which is why we're stoked for Twenty10+GLCS to be the recipients of funds raised through the Yes! Kegs. It's a small contribution to the hugely important work they do in supporting our LGBTIQA+ mates with counselling, housing, mental health services and heaps more.

It's the 40th anniversary of Mardi Gras! What are you most looking forward to about this?!
It feels like we're at a tipping point for inclusiveness in Sydney. With the overwhelmingly positive result of the vote and the hard work of LGBTIQA+ activists over the last 40 years (and beyond), this year feels like an opportunity to celebrate big achievements together.

Oxtravaganza takes place on 24 February at Oxford Street.
