The Willoughby Symphony Orchestra is ready to whisk audiences away on an unforgettable musical journey with 'Odyssey', an exhilarating concert experience landing at The Concourse, Chatswood (Sydney) this June.
Opening the evening is Smetana’s iconic 'The Moldau' – a sweeping, symphonic poem that traces the flow of the Bohemian River, from its serene trickle to roaring rapids, evoking the landscapes and legends of the Czech countryside.
At the heart of the programme sits Mozart’s glittering 'Sinfonia Concertante', a showcase for two of Australia’s finest musicians: violinist Ji Won Kim and violist Caleb Wright. Ji Won, an ABC Young Performers Awards winner, is renowned for her passionate artistry, while Caleb, Principal Viola of the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra, brings depth and virtuosity. Together, the duo promises a sublime interplay of sound and spirit.
Rounding out the night is Dvořák’s radiant 'Symphony No. 8', bursting with lyrical melodies, joyful dance rhythms, and orchestral fireworks. With Dr Nicholas Milton AM at the helm, audiences can expect a performance that brims with energy, heart, and pure musical magic.
'Odyssey' is set to be a stirring celebration of storytelling through music – an essential night out for lovers of the symphonic experience.
'Odyssey' plays The Concourse, Chatswood (Sydney) 21-22 June.
