Iconic skateboarders, photographers, grommets and beautiful ladies assembled for ‘Skate Film Posters Re-Imagined’, an exhibition showcasing GIRL Skateboards film posters reinvented by local artists.
‘In Residence’, Oakley’s pop up space in Surry Hills was the scene for the re-imagining of posters from 'Yeah Right!', 'Fully Flared', 'Pretty Sweet' and 'Mouse'. The event (held on 11 November) was a fusion of music, art, photography, dude food, and of course, skating.

With posters screen-printed by skater Sammy Winter and Terrace House Screen Printing, films produced by GIRL Skateboards were revisited by Sydney artists Sindy Sinn, Luke Okay, Vanderlism, Glenno, Nadia Hernandez and We Buy Your Kids.

Renowned figures from skate community Curren Caples, Eric Koston and Sean Malto were asked to select their favourite skate flicks and use the original film poster as the basis for a re-imagined design that reflected the individual vision and aesthetic of each artist.
With DJs Halfway Crooks spinning ambient and upbeat hip hop tunes in the background, Sydney’s skate and art community swilled beers and bourbon and feasted on food with a particularly Americana feel, burgers and most enjoyably, crazy-good ice-cream sandwiches.

The skate ramp in the back room was the perfect focal point for the event, with kids of all ages and some fantastic women skaters making their mark on the wood and capturing the fun, chilled out feel of the event and the local skate community in general.
