This year, culture vultures will be treated to over 80 free and ticketed events at the Noosa Longweekend Festival for 10 days and nights of music, theatre, film and visual arts and many other activities.
Featuring the best of international, national and local talent, the festival is set to take place at various venues in Noosa, Queensland from Friday 14 June to Sunday 23 June 2013.
Festival Director Ian Mackellar said that the Noosa Longweekend Festival will be pre-releasing a number of events for sale on Friday 22 March, ahead of the full program release on Friday 3 May, 2013.
“We are so excited about our 2013 program that we’ve decided to release a selection of events a little earlier than usual. Our much loved multi-arts genre program will remain but there will also be a few new elements in the mix including a dedicated festival comedy club staged over four nights," said Mackellar.
The festival will be showcasing David Williamson’s latest play, Happiness, a comedy presented by Sydney's Ensemble Theatre Company. Robyn Archer, singer, writer, artistic director and public advocate of the arts, will perform a French cabaret feast encompassing a selection of works from Aristide Bruante through to Jacques Brel, Brigitte Bardot and Serge Gainsbourg.
Williamson said that in anticipation of the popularity of the opening night act, the show will be running for two nights. "Who and what will be revealed on Friday 22 March but I’d advise people to circle June 14 and 15 on their calendars now. We’ll be welcoming an exceptional singer, actor, dancer and television star to our festival stage."
Other festival highlights include Mrs Bang, also known as Sheridan Harbridge who will be escaping the southern winter and making two return supper club appearances with her new show. In addition, Brisbane’s Expressions Dance Company will also return to perform a selection of contemporary dance works.
Tickets can be purchased from Friday 22 March 2013.
