Music, Glitter, Unity – Queer Club Returns To Adelaide In 2023

Queer Club 2022
Our eclectic team of writers from around Australia – and a couple beyond – with decades of combined experience and interest in all fields.

Get ready to sparkle and groove – Queer Club is set to shine brighter than ever when it returns to Adelaide this November.

It’s a night of music, art, and love taking place at Jive, encouraging all members of the LGBTQIA+ community and allies to be part of a safe, welcoming space for all to express themselves and connect.

This year, Queer Club presents an even bigger and more fabulous line-up, featuring five sensational Australian music acts, one dazzling drag queen, and a tonne of glitter to light up the night. It’s a platform to honour the queer community’s rich history, while also highlighting the unique stories and experiences of each individual.

Hosting the night’s proceedings is Ophelia Butt, setting the tone with captivating presence and charm.

Headlining queen Aleksiah has already taken the music scene by storm, with her debut single ‘Fern’. Triple J has showered her with accolades, and she’s graced stages with acts like Lime Cordiale and Kita Alexander. Next up is Adelaide-born, Sydney-bred Caroline And Claude. Their debut single ‘Stir The Pot’ showcases their knack for ruthlessly catchy songwriting.

Sour Sob will deliver a blend of alternative indie rock with ethereal melodies and crushing guitars, and are influenced by icons like Pavement and Big Thief. Then there’s Pest Control, a five-piece fem-punk band here to shake things up. Then, last but not least, is Jess Johns, promising an intimate and soulful connection with the audience.

"I couldn't be happier to see the return of Queer Club for 2023!” Creator Tayla Carlaw says. “This event holds a special place in my heart, as it's not just about the music and the glitter—it's a space where we come together to celebrate our unique identities and create lasting connections.”

“The energy, the unity, and the pure joy of Queer Club are something that can't be replicated. I cannot wait to do it all again!"

Tickets are on sale now.

Queer Club is on at Jive (Adelaide) 3 November.
