Monkey Monkey Shake Shake: This Performance Is BANANAS

Monkey Monkey Shake Shake
Our eclectic team of writers from around Australia – and a couple beyond – with decades of combined experience and interest in all fields.

Monkey Monkey Shake Shake play songs for kids big and little, small (and tall) adults, as well as cows. And they're doing it tomorrow night in West End!

Their original harmonicas, bongos colourful costumes and silly hats combine art, costumes, music, bears, animation, salmon and street performance. The two-person dance band founded in early 2014 and after trying to be an attractive band and failing, took to wearing stupid costumes that suit their songs. "Also it helps us to feel safety when we play," they say.

The duo – Sheldon Lieberman and Sem Hen – just returned from Korea as part of an emerging showcase at the Seoul Museum of Art, and will unleash their 'Grizzly Bear' tunes at Junky Comics tomorrow night.

Part one of the act is Sem Han, who has been trying to be bassist, percussion player and tambourine but failed at all so is taking choreography, fashion coordination, video and rap. The second man is Sheldon Lieberman who sings, speaks, guitars, harmonicas, percussions, writes/ composes/ produces, and dances. He had a hernia a few years ago so he can’t lift heavy things.

No neanderthal nonsense, MMSS go ape for art! So there will be originals, prints, stickers and badges on sale at the show. Dress up is not essential, but it does help everyone get into the groove.

Monkey Monkey Shake Shake perform at Junky Comics 10 June.
