Conceived by Illuminate Adelaide, Night Visions will transform Adelaide Botanic Garden into a portal of parallel dimensions, using cutting-edge light, lasers, projections and sound – it’s the first major event which is part of the 2025 Illuminate Adelaide programme.
Uniting for the project are UK light sculpture artist Amelia Kosminsky, Melbourne audio-visual creator Robin Fox, Sydney site-responsive projection artist Craig Walsh, The Bakery Design Co Founder Jayden Sutherland, and lighting designer and Night Visions Associate Creative Director Chris Petridis. This squad will blend the natural, after-dark beauty of Adelaide Botanic Garden, with vibrant realms of colour and sound.
Night Visions will lead visitors on a self-guided, multi-sensory journey, transforming iconic sites like Ficus Avenue and the Bicentennial Conservatory into alternate realities, with a soundscape from award-winning Melbourne-based composer, musical director and sound designer Jethro Woodward.
“For our milestone fifth year, we wanted to headline the programme with an after-dark adventure that not only takes visitors on an emotional and sensory journey but transports them into parallel realms,” Illuminate Adelaide Co-Founders and Creative Directors Lee Cumberlidge and Rachael Azzopardi say.

“We have brought together the unique talents of six visionary artists to create a series of immersive, ‘other worldly’ environments across the garden using thousands of lights, lasers, projections and sound. Tree canopies will be transformed into evocative living monuments, walkways will become atmospheric gateways pulsing with colour and sound, and the Bicentennial Conservatory will burst with an array of cutting-edge laser and sound technology.”
Amelia Kosminsky will distort the Bamboo Walk into a mind-bending, prism-like world. . . Craig Walsh will work with Cultural Consultant Jack Buckskin to craft evocative, site-responsive projections of significant First Nations portraits. . . Robin Fox will push the boundaries of laser and sound. . . Chris Petridis will turn lighting into pure spectacle. . . and Jayden Sutherland will breathe life into the visual world.
Night Visions is on as part of Illuminate Adelaide 2025, from 2-20 July.
