‘Look Mum…No Hands!!!’ is the first professional exciting, side-splitting and challenging performance created by Brisbane-based ensemble indel-ABILITY ARTS.
It's a performance group that creates work with those who have disabilities, who otherwise would not have an opportunity to express their creative side. The show has been created, written and performed by Brisbane locals Madeleine Little, Michel LaBosse, Karen Lee Roberts and David Waldie. Each artist has their own unique talents and disabilities that have not held them back from doing what they love doing, and they communicate a strong and important message to the audience.

‘Look Mum…No Hands!!!’ showcases the stories of four individuals as they realise their potential and gain independence in a world that is not always accepting of difference. Throughout the 60 minute show, the performers depict the individual struggles and successes they have faced along their journey to gaining independence – and a voice – within an industry that often does not celebrate them. The ensemble has created a show using a multi-arts platform that adds to the diversity and excitement of the show, as well as allowing them to deliver some confronting home-truths of what it is like to be an individual with a disability in today’s society. The stories are expressed through spoken word, music, movement, comedy, dance, visual art and song, in order to create an engaging, hilarious and heart-warming experience.
‘Look Mum…No Hands!!!’ is a well-crafted work of real life experiences that will challenge and inspire the audience’s thoughts and perceptions of those living with various disabilities.
'Look Mum…No Hands!!!' plays at the Redland Performing Arts Centre 2 September.
