Lisa Woodbrook Throws It Back To The 90s And 00s With MILLENNIAL

'MILLENNIAL: Hits Of The 90s And 00s'
Daniele Foti-Cuzzola divides his time between Perth and Italy, and always has his finger on the pulse about what music, theatre and opera events are happening. When he’s not out and about on the arts scene, he’s either cooking up a storm or wining and dining.

Over the last few years, award-winning performer Lisa Woodbrook has been busy sailing the seven seas and performing sold-out shows on cruise ships, but now the ‘Hold On’ songstress is back on Aussie shores, with a brand-new show 'MILLENNIAL: Hits Of The 90s And 00s'.

'MILLENNIAL', which Woodbrook describes as “part concert, part dance-off, part comedy show” premiered in Woodbrook’s home city of Perth earlier this year as part of Fringe World, where it received rave reviews from audiences and critics. The '90s and '00s extravaganza sees Woodbrook and her back-up dancers perform some of the biggest anthems from the '90s and '00s including hits by Britney Spears, Backstreet Boys, Spice Girls, Shania Twain, NSYNC, Beyoncè, Alicia Keys, Hilary Duff and many more, with comedic sets and infectious dance numbers in between that all culminates in one epic millennial medley.

Woodbrook, who has written and starred in hit shows, ‘It’s Not Me, It’s Definitely You’ and ‘Feeling Way Too Good’, was inspired to write a new show while out at sea. “I had been touring on ships for three years and wanted to connect with my own generation again, so I wrote a show to do exactly that. There was a strong love for '90s nostalgia resurging, from fashion to new remixes and I thought it would be awesome to create a fun, high-energy show celebrating the music I grew up listening to and loving."

“I actually wrote the show on the flight home from Japan to Australia last year. There’s something about high altitude that gets my juices flowing. The next day, I pitched it to Ashleigh Perrie, who is also the choreographer, and we went for it. I was really excited to create something I’ve never done before. This concept of a show is very new to me and I love it!”

Woodbrook isn’t the only one who seems to love the show. 'MILLENNIAL: Hits Of The 90s And 00s' sold out during its world premiere at Fringe World, and an encore season was added due to popular demand. Now, Woodbrook is preparing to premiere the show in Queensland at Wynnum Fringe with a special one night only performance.

Millenial 2

“I’m so excited to be jumping back into my silver space suit for a special one-night only performance at Wynnum Fringe,” Woodbrook says. “Brisbane holds a special place in my heart, as it’s where I studied and perfected my craft. I spent three years studying at the Queensland Conservatorium of Music, so while it felt fitting to premiere 'MILLENNIAL' at home, I always knew Brisbane had to be next.”

Since graduating with a Bachelor of Music, Woodbrook has made a name for herself as a singer, songwriter, and producer. Her stage credits include 'We Will Rock You', 'The Boy From Oz' and '50 Shades The Musical Parody', and she has written and produced three original songs including the WAM (West Australian Music Award) finalist – ‘So Bad’. In addition to performing, Lisa has produced multiple hit shows, which she has toured nationally and internationally, including 'Powerhouse' which she performs as a guest headliner on major cruise lines including Princess, Viking, and Seaborne Cruises. While Lisa’s career has taken her around the world and across the seas – she’s ecstatic to return to where it all started.

“This upcoming Fringe season is extra special to me as it’s the first time I’ve performed one of my original works in Brisbane. I can’t wait to be back! The premiere season was so much fun in Perth, we sold out and added an additional encore season and it was great to see everyone singing and dancing along. It’s all the music you know and love, with a bit of comedy in between and it’s just a fun night out for anyone to enjoy – whether you grew up singing those songs in the playground or they were the songs you danced to in the clubs. The '90s and '00s were a great time, and the tunes were banging!”

Following Wynnum Fringe, Woodbrook will be returning to WA to perform in the regions and then is hard at work preparing for some additional Australian tour dates for 'MILLENNIAL: Hits Of The 90s And 00s', for 2026.

“My performing takes me around the world and I absolutely love it!”

Tickets are on sale now.

'MILLENNIAL: Hits Of The 90s And 00s' plays 166 Bay Terrace (Wynnum Fringe, Brisbane) 11 July.
