Public Toilets, Private Words is an absurd comedic cabaret gem, making private moments public by performing scrawlings from the walls of the stalls.
Cabaret and drama intertwine in this riotously dark comedy as 'Public Toilets, Private Words' takes you to places you’ve been, but would rather forget. Set in toilet cubicles from around the world, three intrepid performers transform into many and varied characters launching into song and bashing on drain pipes, with occasional outbursts of wild interpretive dance. In advance of its premiere this Saturday, we've flushed out 5 notable offerings:
1. Always pack a sharpie.
2. Toilet graffiti is celebratory.
Toilet graffiti is life affirming! For example; "To be is to do" ~ Aristotle. "To do is to be" ~ Plato. "Doo be doo be doo be doo be doo" ~ Frank Sinatra.
3. People are strange.
Veeeeeeery strange. For example; "It's 9:30 and there are fish EVERYWHERE! There are fish everywhere... there are FISH everywhere" ...right?
4. Expressing yourself is an important part of being human and people will always find a medium to do this.
5. Toilet graffiti makes for brilliant cabaret material.
