Hot Brown Honey Review @ Brisbane Powerhouse

Majella has been part of the scenestr “scene” for over 20 years. She has interviewed some of the biggest names in the music industry but the size of the star doesn’t matter as much as the quality of the conversation.

Brash, bold and beautiful, but don’t expect the conventional or conservative because 'Hot Brown Honey' doesn’t hold back and isn’t afraid to speak up and speak out.

Loudly and proudly proclaiming their position against stereotypes, racism, sexism and more, this show takes your expectations and turns them on their head. With gleeful joy and emotional depth mixed among the technical skills and expert choreography – this group of performers takes expression to a new level.

Combining song, burlesque, beatboxing, dance, spoken word, physical theatre, striptease and circus – don’t blink for a second or you’ll miss something. But underneath all the flying legs, booty shaking, spirit fingers and saucy stares is a serious conversation.

And one that needs to be heard. So if that is delivered in a feathered flurry of fabulousness, all the better.

There is something so powerful about unapologetic authenticity. This show has that and it allows their message to hit home hard.

Art is one of the oldest and more effective forms of rebellion and when it’s dressed up and delivered like this show, you can see why. It’s pure, unadulterated empowerment disguised as entertainment. Go see it if you can!
