'Hot Brown Honey' is hilarious, raunchy, provocative, sassy, in-yer-face political cabaret with extra dollops of circus arts, burlesque, beatboxing, striptease and hip hop thrown in for good measure.
It's loud, confrontational, sexually charged and takes a very big stick to colonialism, sexism, racial discrimination, and gender stereotypes – by giving them a red-hot, full frontal booty-shake.

Make no mistake, these ‘sistas’ are doing it for themselves (and coloured women everywhere) and they make no apology for it during this 90-minute high-velocity show.
Harking back to the delicious clownery of 1920s burlesque star Josephine Baker, and exhibiting all the verve and hyper-aesthetics of Brisbane’s Polytoxic Dance Company, 'Hot Brown Honey' cherry-picks the stereotypes, shamelessly embracing, lampooning, and ultimately setting them on fire with their fierce and off-beat comedy.

Let’s not mess about, this show pushes the boundaries (and the form) to the absolute edge. From the simmering shores of Polynesia to the bogan streets of Australia (seen through the eyes of an Indigenous drag queen), from Africa and Asia, to the life of a single mother who happens to be a DJ; 'Hot Brown Honey' undresses all kinds of sticky topics with side-splitting humour.
Created by the luscious Lisa Fa’alafi, (Co-Director, Polytoxic Dance Theatre Company,) the curvaceous Candy Bowers (of Circus Oz fame) and the bodacious musical director, Kim ‘Busty Beatz’ Bowers, this has to be on the ‘not to be missed’ list for lovers of bold, undressed cabaret theatre. Superb!
'Hot Brown Honey' plays the Judith Wright Centre until 28 March.
