The winners for the 2018 Helpmann Awards have been announced, a total of 43 from 176 nominations.
The award ceremony was held in Sydney at Sydney Town Hall and Capitol Theatre over two nights (15, 16 July).
The Australian theatre industry seems alive and well with Best New Australian Work receiving the highest number of entries in 2018. See below for a list of the big winners for this year.

including Best New Australian Work and Best Dance Production (‘Bennelong’), Best Touring Production ‘OUR land people stories’.
‘Muriel’s Wedding The Musical’ (5 wins) for the creatives
‘Beautiful: The Carole King Musical’ (5 wins) Best Musical, Best Direction of a Musical, Female Actor (Esther Hannaford), Female Actor in a Supporting Role (Amy Lehpamer), Male Actor in a Supporting Role (Mat Verevis).
‘HAMLET’ (4 wins)
Best Opera, Best Direction of an Opera (Neil Armfield AO), Male Performer in an Opera (Allan Clayton), Female Performer in a Supporting Role in an Opera (Lorina Gore).
Melbourne Theatre Company/Sydney Theatre Company co-production ‘The Children’ (3 wins) to Pamela Rabe, Best Play and Best Direction of a Play.
