The Actors' & Entertainers' Benevolent Fund (ABF) (Qld) Inc and the Queensland Performing Arts Centre (QPAC) are giving you the chance to have a very special morning tea with Angela Lansbury and James Earl Jones.
The legendary stars are currently appearing in Driving Miss Daisy at QPAC, but let's be honest — you're not going to tell your grandkids you had morning tea with the stars of a stage production of Driving Miss Daisy. You're going to tell them you had morning tea with Darth freakin' Vader and Murder, She Wrote.
100 guests will enjoy a delicious morning tea in the intimate surrounds of QPAC's Lyrebird Restaurant, followed by a hosted in-depth conversation with Lansbury and Jones, concluding with a brief Q&A session.
"QPAC is very excited to be host to the Australian premiere season of Driving Miss Daisy," said QPAC chief executive John Kotzas, "and we are pleased to offer this unique event with these two stage and screen legends, with proceeds going to a fund that directly benefits those who are integral to our industry.
"On behalf of QPAC and The Actors' & Entertainers' Benevolent Fund Queensland, I would like to extend my sincere thanks to Angela Lansbury and James Earl Jones for generously giving their time to support this local cause."
Lansbury's career has spanned seventy years in motion pictures, stage and television. She's a five-time Tony Award winner for her lead roles in Broadway musicals Mame, Dear World, Gypsy, Sweeney Todd and Blithe Spirit, and has appeared in almost 60 films. From 1984-1996, she made television history as Jessica Fletcher on Murder, She Wrote, the longest-running detective drama series in TV history, for which she won four of her six Golden Globes.
Jones won Tony Awards for his breakthrough role as boxer Jack Johnson in The Great White Hope, and for August Wilson's Fences. His memorable film roles include turns in Field Of Dreams, The Lion King, The Hunt For Red October, Patriot Games, Clear And Present Danger and, of course, the original Star Wars trilogy. In 2011, he was given an Honorary Oscar in recognition of his distinguished career.
The Brisbane season of Driving Miss Daisy runs at QPAC's Playhouse until February 24.
