The Australian production of Green Day's 'American Idiot' has announced a national tour for 2018.
Following a successful premiere in Brisbane earlier this year, the multi-Helpmann Award-nominated show is preparing to melt faces and hearts across Australia.
The tour will be playing strictly limited seasons kicking off at Sydney Opera House from 11 January before moving on to Adelaide Festival Centre, Crown Theatre in Perth, Comedy Theatre in Melbourne and back where it all began at Queensland Performing Arts Centre.
shake & stir theatre co Executive Producer Nick Skubij is excited to get the show on the road: “There are so many reasons why audiences, some first time theatre-goers, are going to love 'American Idiot',” he says. “It is utterly contemporary, disarmingly relevant and features some of the country's most loved rock and roll music theatre performers.”
Getting back into the role of St. Jimmy is Grinspoon's own frontman Phil Jamieson.
“Absolutely stoked to the eyeballs to be reprising the role of St. Jimmy for 'American Idiot' in 2018... So many great tunes, such a great time,” he says. “I can't wait to bring it to y'all around the country!”
