Fringe World will be taking over Perth, stretching all the way to Scarborough Beach with the returning pop-up venue Sunset Veranda.
The award-winning venue also acts as the flagship venue for the City Of Stirling’s Summerset Arts Festival, now in its tenth year, offering a whole range of delights for festival-goers to enjoy by the seaside and under the big top.
Laughs abound at Sunset Veranda’s comedy line-up. English comedian Alexis Dubus brings his latest show of nonsense poetry ‘Alexis Dubus Verses The World’ and also a new show from his French character Marcel Lucont. Popular demand sees ‘Comedians Against Humanity’ return, letting audiences challenge comedians to create material on-the-spot. Also returning with new shows are Comedy Hypnotist Matt Hale and rising-star and Scarborough local Colin Ebsworth. Comedians will also congregate for the Summerset Comedy Gala for two nights of hilarity.
Audiences can expect to be dazzled by a host of cabaret shows, including the risqué ‘Voila Variete’, the bizarre ‘Obscura’, and the eye-popping ‘Symphonies Of Sensuality 2: We’re Bach’, featuring burlesque acts performed to classical music.
Music lovers will also have something in the programme to look forward to. The Milford Street Shakers pay tribute to soul music in both ‘Beyond Hitsville: Motown To Muscle Shoals’ and ‘Rubber Souled: The Beatles Reimagined Like Never Before’. The rock-musical ‘#Pickup’, and free music by the beach every weekend in the ‘Under The Sky Sessions’.
If you’re having trouble keeping the kids entertained, there’s plenty of performers at Sunset Veranda who’ll do that for you. The Leaping Lillies, Mr Ricochet, the Eco Faeries and more will all be causing mischief onstage for the enjoyment of the little ones.
Along with shows to see, there’ll also be many things for the adventurous to do. Early risers can venture to the beach to enjoy laughter yoga under the rising sun. Those with a creative itch will find a lot of fun in the ‘Blooms And Bubbles’ classes, where participants will learn flower arranging while enjoying a sip or seven of sparkling wine. And resident experts can test their knowledge at ‘Pop Rocks Quiz’, where there knowledge of retro pop-culture will be rewarded with prizes.
With all the activity happening at Sunset Veranda, there’s also plenty to eat and drink while taking in a show. The venue’s dedicated bar will be open throughout to supply refreshing drinks for all, while food will be provided by their resident food truck The Fish Boss.
Sunset Veranda offers plenty to eat, drink, see, and do for festival lovers, with the addition of the cool sea breeze and a gorgeous beachside view. A perfect summer’s night at Scarborough Beach awaits.
