Brisbane burlesque babes Miss BB Le Buff, Lila Luxx, Jacqueline Furey, Magnolia Knife and Miss Alyssa Kitt have all been invited to perform at the prestigious Perth International Burlesque Festival and need a little help to get there!
So they are putting on a show - 'Postcards From Perth Burlesque Revue' is a one-off, special fundraising event but you can still expect bumping, grinding, giggles and glitter. Here Lila Luxx shares her most awkward moments at airport security. How do you explain these Burlesque essentials that appear more sinister than they really are?
1. Giant Ostrich Feather Boas. Massive amounts of feathers are de rigueur for showgirls, but when feathers spill out of suitcases, sometimes it’s necessary to explain that our sport is glamour, not poaching.
2. Carry-on bags full of heels. And only heels. They're far too heavy to check in!
3. Stacks of jewels. It may look like we have just pulled off a heist but rest assured, costume jewellery bling is a girl’s real best friend.
4. Bizarre props. Yes, we do need this severed arm, gas mask, faux bull horns, giant spider’s net, vintage telephone and birdcage for our work.
5. Industrial Strength Glue. It might be carcinogenic, but it keeps those shiny Swarovski crystals in place at all times. We might all die early, but we'll sparkle when we do.
The 'Postcards From Perth Burlesque Revue' is a one-off, special fundraising event at SYC Studios on May 31 to help Brisbane burlesque babes Miss BB Le Buff, Lila Luxx, Jacqueline Furey, Magnolia Knife and Miss Alyssa Kitt perform at the prestigious Perth International Burlesque Festival.
