Falls Festival just keeps getting bigger and better. With a bright line-up of musical talent, you'd be forgiven for thinking that this year's Falls couldn't get any cooler.
Think again.The curators behind one of the nation's biggest parties are teeing up an impressive slew of independent arts and comedy programmes for Byron Bay, Marion Bay, and Lorne.
Aptly named the Falls Comedy Club, these comedians will be en route with Falls as the festival makes its way around the east coast:
ARIA award nominee and purveyor of scorching dry wit, Rhys Nicholson;
Steph Tisdell, whose ability to find the humour in heartbreak hits home;
Daniel Townes will bring his charismatic presence and sharp one-liners to the stage;
Identical twin comedy duo, James and Benjamin Stevenson in The Stevenson Experience;
and Triple J sweetheart Gen Fricker with her unique and unapologetically sassy stand-up.
MC duties will be taken up by Cameron James in Lorne and Marion Bay, with Kirsty Webeck taking over in Byron Bay.
The respective arts programmes in each Falls location will make for a fully immersive and truly eclectic experience for festival-goers.
Rancho Relaxo in Lorne aims at gifting punters their very own mega lifestyle precinct. Complete with yoga, live music, meditation, discussion panels, massage stations, dance workshops, health food stalls, specialty bars, and of course, the late night silent disco to see you boogying into the wee hours.
Smalls Festival in Marion Bay
Smalls Festival is the perfect place for families and kids to get creative during the festival! Taking aim at little ones' imaginations and creative impulses, Smalls Festival will feature everything from pet rock making, to graffiti walls. Don't forget face painting, jumping castles and ninja challenges! Not to mention, every activity is free.
In Byron Bay, punters will get the chance to storm Area 51 (They can't stop all of us!)
Area 51 is the festival within a festival. Indulge in a poolside cocktail or two, cop a spot of table tennis or beer pong, or unleash your inner artist at their massive outdoor gallery You've Finally Made It. Curated by Byron Bay local Andy Mac – “I’m thrilled to be the 2019-20 artist in residence for Falls Byron. Festivals are a coming together of friends old and new since the dawn of human time. I’m looking to create moments of surprise, delight and serendipity for music lovers and festival goers.”
To top it all off, Falls have also introduced a fancy dress theme for New Year’s Eve at all East Coast locations – NEON NIGHTS! Bright, punchy, loud n' proud, and as tropical-fruity as patrons want to take it.
