A deadly bacteria, a missing scientist and a plot of epic proportions.
Inspired by the work of South Australian scientist Howard Florey (who discovered penicillin) Adelaide Escape Hunt’s newest escape room ‘The Deadly Discovery’ sees participants locked in a race against time to solve a deadly mystery and (hopefully) save millions of lives.
While researching penicillin Howard accidentally created a penicillin resistant bacteria and – fearing the devastating consequences of his discovery – hid the formula somewhere in his home. Now, Howard has been kidnapped and, as one of Australia’s finest detectives you have been called upon to find and destroy the bacteria before it falls into the wrong hands.
Like its predecessors ‘The Deadly Discovery’ gives participants just one hour to advance through the game, solving a series of puzzles which include (but are not limited to) unlocking combination locks and deciphering codes. Each new discovery leads to another puzzle and another clue but be warned – not every discovery is relevant to the case and it’s up to you and your team mates to decide which clues to pursue and which to ignore; but choose wisely as one wrong move could cost you precious time. While it’s tempting to watch the seconds tick by, you’ll need to keep calm under pressure and focus if you hope to succeed. Game staff watch your every move through cameras and are there to offer assistance (in the form of additional clues) at players' requests.
‘The Deadly Discovery’ caters for up to six players so if you want an exclusive experience you will need to purchase six tickets. Otherwise (like myself) you can test your communication and team work skills by joining forces with strangers and maybe even making new friends (shout out to the two hilarious guys who made up half of our intimate team of four on 19 February).
Perfect for puzzle lovers of all ages, ‘The Deadly Discovery’ is a fun way to test your problem solving and reasoning skills in a fast-paced, safe environment. Whether you are an escape rooms veteran or looking to try something new, ‘The Deadly Discovery’ is sure to entertain and for those who were wondering... We escaped with 17 minutes to spare.
