Eric Tinker Brings Music, Comedy And History To Adelaide Fringe

Eric Tinker
Our eclectic team of writers from around Australia – and a couple beyond – with decades of combined experience and interest in all fields.

South Australian comedy producer and comedian Eric Tinker will present three diverse shows, as part of this year's Adelaide Fringe.

Eric (real name Derek Tickner) is a musical comedian, improviser, photographer, cartographer and writer. He's enjoyed shows at Adelaide Fringe and the iconic Edinburgh Fringe, influenced and inspired by the likes of Spike Milligan, The Bonzo Dog Band, Steve Martin and Flight Of The Conchords.

'Funky Fresh Musical Improv' is back, for its fifth (!) Adelaide Fringe. Musical comedies are great, but wouldn't they be even better if YOU got to choose the story? This is the show that allows that. Here, a talented troupe of serenading improvisers are ready to do your bidding, as multi-instrumentalist musician Jai steers the cast through improvised comedic and singing adventures, and stories that have never been seen before. The audience picks the subject and title, and the cast performs to live music.

Then, 'Adelaide vs The World – The Clash Of The Comics' pits fine SA jesters against interstate and international comics through stand-up, team games and challenges, as MC Eric endeavours to keep order. It's the audience's job to help decide which team is the funniest! Can Adelaide take on the world?

Finally, 'Eric Tinker's Tragical History Tour' tracks some of the tragic events which have shaped our modern world. From the neanderthals to present day, Eric appraises key events in history, and he's got some questions. For example, what really happened in 1066? What if Britain had lost the Napoleonic Wars? What if Hitler had been a successful artist?!

So whether you're keen on some musical improvisation, itching to check out a battle of the comedians, or pondering the big questions of history, Eric Tinker's bringing it all to the Fringe.

All three shows at Adelaide Fringe play The Griffins Hotel, Hindmarsh Square. 'Eric Tinker's Tragical History Tour' plays 15 March. 'Adelaide vs The World' and 'Funky Fresh Musical Improv' play 20-22 March.
