Celine, Whitney, Adele, Beyonce, Tina, Mariah, Diana, Barbra, Sarah Brightman, Eva, Cher, Madonna. . . ‘Rock! Pop! Opera!’ is headed to Brisbane to celebrate the world’s greatest divas.
Princess of pop Paulini, renowned soprano Mirusia and powerhouse Angie Narayan will come together with an electric 11-piece band to performing foot-stomping rock, char-grooving pop, and awe-inspiring opera – each song is a masterpiece and audiences can expect soaring vocals, epic arrangements and lush harmonies wrapped in layers of musical goodness.
Hot off the heels of her ‘We Are One’ performance for 2022’s ‘Eurovision Australia Decides’ contest, platinum-selling artist Paulini has been heralded as one of the finest vocalists and performers to come out of Australia. Since her time on ‘Australian Idol’ she’s been a part of Young Divas, released her own solo music, and taken to the stage as part of musicals ‘The Bodyguard’, ‘Saturday Night Fever’, ‘Hair’, and ‘Chess The Musical’.
Mirusia studied opera at Griffith University’s Queensland Conservatorium, and at the age of 21 she was announced as the youngest ever recipient of the Dame Joan Sutherland Opera Award. She’s toured the world as a star soprano with Andre Rieu, who dubbed her ’the Angel Of Australia’. Her latest #1 ARIA charting album ‘Songbird’ showcases the music which has inspired her journey.
In 2004, Angie Narayan was a stand-out on ‘Australian Idol’ – Ian Dickson dubbed her Australia’s ‘soul mama’. She’s also the lead from the smash hit ‘R.E.S.P.E.C.T’, the earth-shattering Aretha Franklin experience. Her family have roots in gospel music, which has been a key influence and driving factor in her career.
‘Rock! Pop! Opera!’ plays Queensland Performing Arts Centre 7 August.
