From Interactive Theatre International (the people behind the global smash hit 'Faulty Towers The Dining Experience') comes a brand-new theatre comedy show.
'Confetti And Chaos' is dinner and a show – a totally immersive and highly improvised theatrical experience. Audiences will play the role of guests at a surprise, not-so-civilised wedding reception.
What was meant to be a surprise party to celebrate Will and Stacey's wedding has devolved into total pandemonium. Secrets are being spilt like wine, family who weren't even invited manage to slither their way into the venue, and chaos ensues.
“This is a few very different takes on love, some secrets, some terrible in-laws, and trying to have the dream wedding reception on a tiny budget,” Interactive Theatre International Executive Producer Jared Harford says. “I don’t want to give too much away, but be prepared to eat, drink, laugh, and cry.”
As soon as they're seated, audience members will become part of the action – a classic English wedding reception, gone wildly wrong. Four performers will play nine characters throughout the show.
“[This show is for] anyone who's about to get married, who is married, who doesn’t want to get married, or who dreams of getting married,” Jared continues. “This is a great evening to have with friends AND family. You’ll be surprised just what your parents have to say about their wedding night!”
“After working on this show for three years in the UK, I'm so excited to show Aussie audiences something they haven’t ever seen before.”
While it's sure to be the catalyst for discussions families may not have ever had, Jared hopes the main response to 'Confetti And Chaos' is, of course, a room full of people who are well-fed and have had a nice, healthy dose of hilarity.
“A few tears are needed to know we’ve done it just right,” he laughs. “But we want people to walk away with laughter pains!”
And what's a highlight of being involved in a show as wild as 'Confetti And Chaos'?
“Honestly, the amount of fun the cast and audiences alike have,” Jared answers. “You know it’s a good show when the cast are eager to get into costume and want to start early!”
'Confetti And Chaos' plays The Terrace Hotel (Adelaide Fringe) 16-20 March.
