Cinema Obscura: Bringing 35mm Back

Our eclectic team of writers from around Australia – and a couple beyond – with decades of combined experience and interest in all fields.

The major film studios announced in May this year that 35mm production of films would cease, leaving many hardcore film fans in disarray.

After 120 years of artistry, digital film production is set to take over, changing the face of cinema. Cinema Obscura is here to give the old 35mm its last hurrah taking over Brisbane, staging guerrilla film showings in random places; rooftops, museums, laneways, wherever.

After the previous success of the first showing of the horror classic Rosemary's Baby at Tribal Theatre in George Street, Cinema Obscura is continuing onto bigger and better stages.

The second Cinema Obscura is happening at a secret location Friday September 28.
