From the roaring '20s to three masters of modern pop music, international vocalist Cathrine Summers brings two incredible evenings of live music to Fringe World.

In 'A Swingin' Gatsby Jazz Club', Cathrine gets the '20s roaring once more, featuring upbeat, swinging '20s-style jazz performances with a twist.

Cathrine promises to provide a full evening in prohibition style jammed with sequinned show girls, delicious burlesque, a stunning acrobat and more, all weaved around cheeky anecdotes and historical narrative to make for an evening that's both engaging and entertaining.

The evening will feature traditional jazz swing classics from the likes of Duke Ellington, Count Basie, Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday, Benny Goodman, Nat King Cole, Louis Prima, Frank Sinatra and many more, plus a host of modern songs presented in a traditional jazz style.

“This show crosses from traditional jazz to modern songs in a jazz style, which is in itself another kind of ‘Like A Version’ musical experience for people,” Cathrine says.

Cathrine's other show is called 'Elton, Bowie, Beatles' in which she presents re-imagined classics from Elton John, David Bowie and The Beatles, backed by a five-piece band.

Describing the show as “a musical journey paying homage to three artists that arguably shaped the direction of music”, Cathrine presents both faithful covers and her own versions of songs such as 'Starman', 'Hey Jude', 'Bennie And The Jets', 'Help!', 'Changes', 'Your Song' and many more.

“I love performing modern funky-style songs and delivering versions of pop songs in a live setting, different yet true to the artist's style,” Cathrine says.

“I’m mostly looking forward to the fun of the shows themselves. I love sharing the music, sharing the songs with the 'Gatsby' show, the dancers, acrobat and burlesque performers along with myself are all accompanied by the live full band.

“There are no pre-recorded dance numbers – which I feel is something unique and energetic. It’s so great everything being live! I also absolutely love the atmosphere of the audiences that come to Fringe shows. The excitement in the air brings an electricity to every show.”

'A Swingin' Gatsby Jazz Club' is on at The Old Swan Brewery 6-8 and 13-15 February. 'Elton, Bowie, Beatles' is on at Lamont's Bishops House 22, 29 January and 5, 12 February.
