Our eclectic team of writers from around Australia – and a couple beyond – with decades of combined experience and interest in all fields.

The upcoming Bell Shakespeare production of ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’ will travel to more than 20 venues across Australia in 2024.

The show will tour to venues it didn’t reach in 2021 after COVID lockdowns and border closures, offering audiences in these locations another chance to see the Bell Shakespeare reimagining of this perennial favourite.

It’s directed by Artistic Director Peter Evans, taking Shakespeare’s classic comedy and giving it new life brimming with magic, mirth and mayhem. ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’ will open at Sydney Opera House in March, before travelling to Melbourne, Canberra, Orange, Warrnambool, Shepparton, Wagga Wagga, Margaret River and more.

“I’m delighted we’re able to give this production a second chance after we sadly had to cancel many of the dates in 2021,” Artistic Director Peter Evans says. “Our cast and crew went through quarantine but only made it to the Northern Territory and Queensland due to border closures and lockdowns elsewhere, so we’re focusing on the states and territories we missed out on to give audiences an opportunity to see it.”

“‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’ is very special to me, and whether you are revisiting an old friend in this play or are brand new to Shakespeare, it is a play to treasure.”

Ahunim Abebe will make her mainstage debut, as Hermia, alongside Isabel Burton (Helena), Mike Howlett (Demetrius) and Laurence Young (Lysander). Returning to the stage for the show are Ella Prince (Puck), Kyle Morrison (Oberon/Theseus/Flute) and Imogen Sage (Titania/Hippolyta/Quince).
