A full-time tattoo artist in Brisbane and on the Gold Coast, Carla Benzie creates more than inked art on skin.
Carla also works predominately in the medium of painting and drawing, and enjoys making jewellery from vintage watch parts, pearls, gems and miscellaneous antique pieces.

Having had her work displayed in a number of art exhibitions around the world – including the Water For Life projects conducted by the Theosophical Order of Service (TOS) in Kenya – Carla's art was shortlisted as a finalist for the 2012 Gainsborough Greens Awards.

Other exhibitions of Carla's include; 'Die Empty' held in 2013 which saw her collaborate with an artist group led by English artist Samantha Yallopein; a collaboration with
Artis Pura Custom Framing in Brisbane last October, where all her pieces were custom framed by Erin Salguero; and most recently she had an exhibition at Kylie Farrelly's art gallery with Vincenza Benzie, as well as a collaboration exhibition at
Percolator Gallery – which saw works celebrating the female form.

Her works are now on permanent display at the Carla Benzie Gallery & Studio in Camp Hill, Brisbane.

Working on a new project for May, Carla is teaming up with Brisbane designer and creator of indifferent pieces – including skulls, lights and installations – Dragnet Industries. Together the creative duo will bring Carla's paintings to life with lights and lit instillations that will brighten the darkness of night in 'Change In The Light'.

Fusing paintings, sculptures, old books, mixed media and liquid glass intertwined with special effect lighting, 'Change The Light' brings a new element to Carla's paintings, drawings and jewellery.
Carla Benzie and Dragnet Industries 'Change In The Light' exhibition will be held at the Carla Benzie Gallery from 18 May.
