The launch of the Brisbane Festival last night revealed the centrepiece of this year's event will be a giant good thing.

1. Catch public transport. Visit the TRANSLink website at www.translink.com.au or call 13 12 30 for details about special services on Saturday 3 September.

2. If you must drive your car into the city, make sure you check the extensive road closures in place here and seek alternative routes. The Go-Between Bridge and Clem7 tunnel provide great alternative routes across the river.

3. Bring the essentials for comfort. Pack a chair or picnic rug, hat, sunscreen, camera, and warm clothing. Bring your radio and tune into Triple M 104.5FM for the official soundtrack.

4. Ensure your pets are safe and secure. Fireworks can frighten some animals, so make sure your pet is kept comfortably indoors and speak to your local veterinarian about options to help keep them calm.

5. Get the best seats.  Pick your vantage point and arrive early.  An iPhone app can be downloaded containing vantage point maps for easy reference.

6. Make sure you hold onto all your belongings and put your rubbish in the bins provided. Make the job for SITA Australia an easier one after the show.

7. If you’re staying home, tune into Channel Nine for the ‘What’s on at Brisbane Festival Special’ from 5.30pm and the exclusive live broadcast from 6.30pm.

8. Check out the Sunsuper Riverfire website page for any further updates and stay connected with us on Twitter and Facebook.

9. Keep these times handy - 3.30pm for the Blackhawk aeria display, 4pm for the Superhornets and another Blackhawk flyover at 5pm!
