For those unfamiliar, improvised comedy is a popular artform where everything is made up on the spot. It’s been popularised by shows like ‘Whose Line Is It Anyway?’ and ‘Thank God You’re Here’. It has started the careers of many famous comedians, like Tina Fey, Bill Murray, Will Ferrell and Amy Poehler. Big Fork Theatre is the home of improvised comedy in Brisbane.
“We are so excited to bring this festival back in 2023 - improv is one of the most exciting and diverse art forms, and we are getting to see not only Brisbane’s best talents but that of so many amazing visiting performers and teachers,” Big Fork Theatre Director Rosa Sottile says. “Early or late shows, silly or scary, musical or dramatic, kids or adults, there’s truly something for everyone at this festival!”
Brisbane Improv Festival takes place from 22-29 July at Big Fork Theatre (Fortitude Valley).
