Anywhere Festival returns to Brisbane for its 15th year, inviting audiences to experience the art of performance in the most unexpected places – from warehouses to rooftops and everywhere in between.
The celebrated festival is continuing its tradition of showcasing theatre, music, dance and storytelling in unconventional venues across the city, and building on the success of last year’s event, the 2025 edition will deliver nearly 300 performances in more than 100 locations.
“Anywhere Festival is about breaking down the barriers between performers and audiences,” Anywhere Festival Founder and Artistic Director Paul Osuch says.
“By taking art out of traditional venues and into everyday spaces, we create intimate and memorable experiences that resonate with our community.”
Some of the highlights to expect across this year’s event include ‘Sacred Sonic’ by Angel Strings at St Patrick’s Cathedral and the Sir Thomas Brisbane Planetarium. . . ’Native Tongue – Migration Stories’, a spoken-word performance featuring poetry from Vanessa Gordon. . . ‘The Bear Truth’ at City Botanic Gardens raising the question ‘who would you prefer to be in the woods with – man or bear?’, along with other big issues raised in shows like ‘Fat Girl, Too Much Influence’, and ‘She Works Hard For (No) Money’. . . Life and death explored in performances like ‘EDNA-GY’, ‘Theatre Of The Last Breath’, and the fully improvised ‘Lifestory’.

'Native Tongue – Migration Stories'
There’s also a bunch of silliness, taking shape in immersive dance piece in a house, ‘Lamps Are Hot’, plus the returns of Shakespeare meets ‘Star Wars’ in ‘Bard Wars’, and ‘The Cupcake Killer’.
Bus Stop Theatre will crop up at bus stops around Brisbane, and you can also bring your music instrument or vocal cords to the Campfire Jamboree Under The Stars.
The music lovers among attendees can enjoy everything from album launches to the tenth anniversary of Muses Trio, and much more.
As for where all of this will be taking place – you can expect to be visiting places like a school rooftop, an op shop, community halls and spaces, houses, a historical cellar in West End. . . The list goes on.
Tickets are on sale now.
Anywhere Festival Brisbane 2025 is on from 17 July-3 August.
