Anywhere Festival launched their 2015 programme on Wednesday 18 March with a treasure hunt.
Guests were asked to download the clues to their mobile phone and sent on a journey of discovery that delivered them to West End’s The Bearded Lady where the programme was revealed.
Running for 18 days (7-24 May) Anywhere Festival brings challenging theatre to unorthodox places – so if your idea of going to the theatre means sitting in a ‘theatre’, with proscenium arch, follow spots, an interval and polite clapping – then you’re in for a big surprise.
Anywhere Festival is about delivering performance anywhere but traditional theatres, and this year the programme has grown to include 337 performances in 48 different locations across 24 suburbs.
Now in its fifth year, the 2015 programme offers a smorgasbord of choices – including comedy, dance, music, burlesque, and theatre (as you never used to know it). But it is the locations that will make you smile!
This year 'Anywhere' takes over such unlikely places as churches, bowling clubs, swimming pools, libraries, cafés, pubs, galleries and strip clubs – in addition to some of Brisbane’s best known landmarks – Victory Hotel, Valley Pool, Boggo Road Gaol, State Library of Queensland and the Woolloongabba Antiques Centre.
So grab a programme and start planning your Anywhere Festival journey. You can’t say you’ve been to the theatre until you’ve experienced Anywhere Theatre.
