Gazillion Bubbles Is Absolutely Unbelievabubble!

Gazillion Bubbles

Theatre halls and arts centres around the country are about to be transformed into enchanting adventures into bubble wonderland, all thanks to 'The Gazillion Bubble Show'.

Creator, bubble scientist and artist, Fan Yang's passion for bubbles started when he was just a fascinated child, but now after two decades with 'The Gazillion Bubble Show', the Yang family's unique bubble art continues to wow audiences.

Featuring around the world in television and stage shows, the Yangs have found a love for turning the simplistic into artistic, making bubble art into a highly successful, internationally-acclaimed show for the whole family. Fan himself even finds it hard to describe their shows, and with lasers and lighting effects paired with their fascinating bubble artworks, it seems the shows truly have to be experienced to be believed.

Though the bubble mania is more than just a bit of fun, the Yang family's intriguing combination of science with art has earned the family scientific support and acknowledgement worldwide. We chatted to Melody, the youngest of the Yang family, about her upcoming shows across Australia in the next few months and science behind the bubble art.

'The Gazillion Bubble Show' has really taken the world by storm, how has the success been for you?
It's been a great experience and process for me to see the show grow and continue to become something inspiring and spectacular. The success has been extremely gratifying considering all the hard work myself and my family have put in. I am grateful for the show and the wonderful opportunities it has brought for all of us.

The art has been a major part of your family for years, how do you continue to make such unique and fascinating shows for audiences?

Every show is unique, just as the energy I receive from every audience member is unique. So, to be able to create such a beautiful artform with soap bubbles and share these moments and experiences with audiences around the world has always been rewarding to me. Especially to see the joy and happiness in others.

Did you or your family ever imagine reaching the success you have had with the shows?
We as a family have learned to strive towards our goals and dreams and to always support each other no matter what. I never imagined it reaching to the level of success as it has today, but I'm truly grateful for every moment of it.

Gazillion Bubbles1What is your favourite part of the performance?
Every segment of the show is unique in its own way. However, my favourite would be towards the end of the performance with the 'Bubble Laser FX'. This segment usually catches the audience by surprise and this is why it is my favourite, because nobody expects such a cool laser-bubble show.

Have you ever had complications on stage, like the bubble popping mid-trick?
Yes, there are times the bubbles will not work in my favour but that's the beauty of it. I've learnt to work with any issue that may arise in that situation. For instance, if there is a draft of wind causing the bubbles to blow away. Then I will adjust the size of the bubble to have a better control. So I've learned through experience to overcome these kinds of obstacles. There is definitely times that things don't work out as well as I've expected, but I must work with what I have in that moment and do it the best I can.

Can you explain to us the science that makes the bubbles stay so perfect throughout the night?
The science of the bubbles comes down to many factors. First off it begins with the liquid. Without a perfect liquid mixture, with the right viscosity and elasticity, the bubble will not last very long. Secondly, the air. If there IS the perfect humidity in the atmosphere with no winds, the bubbles can survive. These I would say are the some of the main scientific aspects to consider when wanting to achieve the perfect, long-lasting bubble.

Gazillion Bubbles3How/ when did you discover this?

I've been a bubble artist/ performer since the age of 3. This was initially discovered by my parents before I was born. So I was pretty much born right into this profession. It is such a wonderful thing to me because not many people understand the artistry and beauty of it until you really they see the show. I am happy to have the opportunity to show people more than just what their eyes can see.

We know the show is perfect for kids of all ages, but what can the kids-at-heart expect?
This show is for everyone to enjoy, including adults. The kids-at-heart can expect to be inspired and shocked by the fascinating things done with just a simple soap bubble.
