A Tribute Of Sorts: Calamity Cousins

A Tribute Of Sorts
Our eclectic team of writers from around Australia – and a couple beyond – with decades of combined experience and interest in all fields.

The gothic quirkiness of Tim Burton meets the awkward kitsch of Wes Anderson in QTC's 'A Tribute Of Sorts'.

Starring Dash Kruck and Emily Curtain as oddball teen cousins Ivan and Juniper Plank and directed by Benjamin Schostakowski, this is an artful, dark, morbidly funny celebration of the art of theatre itself. Kruck happily shared his experiences on set.

This show will make you feel...
Inappropriate.

Do you have a signature dance move and if so, what is it?
Not really, my signature move is more likely to be me tripping over my own feet.

What's your fave line in the show, and why?
When Juniper says, “You kepp it fresh. You keep me fresh.” I love it because she's trying to express herself and just failing miserably.

Describe the experience of playing so many characters in one production?
Exhausting.

A Tribute of Sorts creates... hilarity... and plays havoc with… the idea of what's ok to laugh at and what's not... but ends on... an eruption of sparkles and glitter.

Your role and how that came about?
I play Ivan, an upbeat, serious, amateur dramatist that wants it all to be professional as possible but doesn't quite get it.

Do you have a crazy cousin-related story you can share?
Alas, no, I rarely saw my cousins growing up. Maybe I've missed out on something here?

'A Tribute Of Sorts' plays from May 7-17 at Bille Brown Studio.
