International comedy phenomenon The Umbilical Brothers are returning to Adelaide Fringe with an encore season of 'The Distraction’.
The show has been a smash around the country already, merging stage with screen in an impressive and hilarious production showing off the duo's talents and the limitlessness of technology.
Before the pair perform the 2021 Best Comedy Award-winner, they turn their attention to the other offerings of the Fringe and recommend five shows for you to see (in addition to 'The Distraction', of course).
One
Luke Heggie – 'Grot'. Not to put too much pressure on him during the run, but Luke is seriously one of the best stand-ups this country has produced. His writing is incisive, deceptive and just plain freaking funny, and his delivery is like a non-stop ballet that you're glad you chose to see. A virtuoso in regular man's clothing. Only five shows so get in there. Two
Sam Campbell - 'Every Single Emotion'. A true original that is at last being recognised as the true original that he is, which I said because I recognise it too. We saw his Edinburgh Comedy Award-winning show in the Garden early on and loved it. He saw us in the crowd and described David as "a physical genius", and me (Shane) as "a guy who makes funny noises". I'm willing to forgive this in-depth assessment of my contribution to our comedy because he's just that original, as mentioned earlier. See him and know how unexpected the unexpected can be.Three
Scout Boxall: 'Buck Wild'. Is it stand-up? Sketch? Musical? PowerPoint display? Maybe all of the above. Scout’s shows are smart, biting and informative. They have gone from strength to strength from with their shows, and this from a debut that was nominated for a Golden Gibbo at Melbourne International Comedy Festival.Four
Ting Lim: 'Every Ting or No Ting'. If you’re after a comedian that makes you feel like you’re having a bloody fun chat with your mate who’s on fire, Ting is your pick. Lim’s honest and relatable sharing of her personal struggles resonate with just about everybody.Five
Ange Lavoipierre & Jane Watt: 'Jazz Or A Bucket Of Blood'. Seriously, anyone who goes past this title and doesn’t want to see it isn’t human. The Umbilical Brothers play The Vagabond at The Garden of Unearthly Delights (Adelaide Fringe) 17 February-19 March.
