The inaugural Art Byron will gather local and nationally-celebrated artists, for a feast of events spanning exhibitions, gallery talks, music, film, a multimedia installation and an art dinner.
The festival asks the question 'do we choose love or fear?', and this theme was envisioned by renowned First Nations woman and artist Karla Dickens, who lived through the March flood events which swept across Bundjalung country around Lismore – a place she has called home for the last 20 years.
Art Byron will include three main exhibitions, all curated by Karla. Plus Byron School Of Art will host an exhibition featuring neon and sculptural works, and THOM Gallery will host an exhibition by the Tennant Creek Brio.
First Nations artists and Indigenous cultural experiences are integral to Art Byron's vision. The Sand And Water exhibition features local Bundjalung artists.
To learn even more about Art Byron, we had Festival Director Lisa Cowan list five reasons you should be checking out the event.
