After successfully presenting the Rogers and Hammerstein musical 'Oklahoma' on a farm and the Gilbert and Sullivan operetta, 'The Pirates Of Penzance' on a boat, Emma Knights Productions’ next immersive musical innovation is to bring the Adelaide Hills to life with their presentation of another R and H classic, 'The Sound Of Music', in a monastery.
Before the outdoor production starring Megan Doherty as Maria and Andy Turner as Captain Von Trapp begins, audience members can catch a drop of golden summer sun by touring The Monastery’s Sacred Garden of Tranquillity.
The SA Tourism award-winning Emma Knights provides us with a quirky list of some of her favourite things about the film and this production.
One
Julie Andrews. I just love her. What an amazing woman and career. I worked with someone on their audition for 'My Fair Lady' and Julie said that her interpretation of the song was excellent! I am racking that up as a compliment to me from Julie!
Two
When Austria and Australia got mixed up on CNN in 2016. Easy mistake to make.
Three
My dog is a Schnoodle. Schnitzel and Noodles!
Four
'The Sound Of Music' 'look at all the f...s I give' meme of Julie Andrews on the mountain. Always makes me chuckle.
Five
Putting on shows in unique locations. It creates such an experience for everyone involved. The Monastery is a stunning building with beautiful gardens and is the perfect setting for 'The Sound Of Music'.
'The Sound Of Music' (Immersive Experience) plays The Monastery from 24-28 January.
